About

Established in 2011

My Three Chambered Heart is an educational nonprofit that promotes reptile education through classes, presentations, and community outreach. We strive to spread knowledge and acceptance of this often misunderstood class of creatures, hoping to help improve captive husbandry and wildlife conservation in the process.

Hi, my name is Jake. I have loved reptiles for as long as I can remember. I have been keeping reptiles, primarily snakes, for 27 years. I learned a lot along the way, including how much misinformation and irrational fear surround snakes and reptiles in general.

Years of personal research and experience led me to offer hands-on reptile shows with my own animals to share my knowledge and personal stories. After discovering an alarming lack of resources and accurate information available to schools and students who were interested in learning about herpetology, I decided to form a nonprofit organization aimed at filling this gap.

Reptiles* have three chambers in their hearts, in contrast to the four chambers of a human heart. Reptiles are more than just an interest of mine, they are a passion, and so My Three Chambered Heart was born.

*excluding crocodilians, they have four chambered hearts, like us!

Thank you for your interest and support. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to meet a 14 foot Burmese python for yourself. His name is Patrice, by the way, and he loves meeting new friends!
